QA Manager – Food – Red Meat – FILLED
The Wellington Group has been engaged to find an experienced QA Manager – Food – Red Meat for an established, profitable food packaging company. The QA Manager – Food – Red Meat is responsible for ensuring compliance with all internal QA Systems and various regulatory bodies such as the USDA. The QA Manager – Food – Red Meat will plan, coordinate and direct the quality assurance program at a commercial red meat processing facility.
QA Manager – Food – Red Meat essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Schedule and conduct/supervise HACCP-related monitoring, verification and internal auditing, and manage the documentation of each
- Write and revise product specifications for new and existing products
- Manage and approve new packaging material and product specifications
- Train supervisors and line leads on new product or packaging specifications
- Design quality audits for new products
- Supervise sanitation team
- Supervise pre-operational inspection
- Train and supervise all QA staff to assess product quality and safety during production
- Communicate with on-site USDA and address any issues
- Participate in weekly exit meetings and third party audits
- Ensure that all HACCP-related programs and documents are kept current
- Verify correct monitoring procedures and documentation
- Help develop training programs and materials for new and existing employees
- New employee orientation (GMPs, HACCP and general policies and expectations)
- Determine and implement corrective actions
- Present audit findings to management
- Participate in mock product and packaging recalls
- Review of returned goods
- Some travel between production facilities required
The qualified QA Manager – Food – Red Meat candidate will have:
- Bachelors degree in Food Science or a related field
- 5-10 years of Production experience in the food industry including at least 3 years in a leadership/management role in Quality Assurance, Operations Management a plus
- Must have a detailed knowledge of food manufacturing processes and proven leadership skills
- Detailed knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, USDA and Sanity/Food Safety Training a must
- SQF / BRC certified practitioner or trainer preferred
- Ideal indicial has strong computer and writing skills, able to write or re-write and manage SOPs and a web portal management tool (Product lotting, identity preservation and traceability)
