Sr Material Scientist – Glass
The Wellington Group has been engaged to find a Sr Material Scientist – Glass, seasoned glass industry R&D Scientist with new product development and innovations experience. Sr Material Scientist – Glass Position Requirements:
- Drive new glass product development via collaboration with peers across the organization
- Work closely with Product Managers to develop glass based product specs and define project scope and deliverables
- Apply Material Science expertise in the development of new glass based products, or on the enhancement of current and existing glass based products
- Manage new product development projects to maximize speed to market, completeness and accuracy
- Work with Production on the scale-up and transfer or new products to manufacturing and sales
- Provide expertise and creative and strategic oversight throughout the process
- Interact with entire staff on trouble-shooting activities and process improvement projects
- Work with and communicate in cross-functional teams; colleagues, industry and academic leaders, vendors, customers, and end users
The qualified Sr Material Scientist – Glass candidate will have:
- MS or PhD in Material Science or Engineering, Glass focus is ideal
- 10+ years of experience with glass R&D
- Experience with raw materials such as silicates, silica, or phosphates preferred
- Hands-on experience with glass synthesis, fabrication and glass composites is required
- Must have experience with glass behaviors in heating and cooling, furnace experience is a plus
- Seeking 2+ leadership experience
- CAD/CAM experience with Solidworks and 3D modeling preferred
- Preferred experience 3+ years with Biomaterials, bone and dental applications and glass to metal or glass to ceramic bonding
- Results oriented, “can do” professional with a passion for R&D and product innovations
- Must be a creative visionary, product development experience from ideation to commercialization
- Able to work within a cross functional team and company environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate and interact with multiple cultures and backgrounds
